Hubby has decided to start a blog. He is a philosophy instructor, so it most likely will not be a light and airy blog. He has had it for a few weeks but I have not linked to it yet b/c I only got through a few lines of his VERY long first post. G*d Love Him or “bless his heart”.
I told him he had to make it a little more reader friendly or the only people who would read it was his fellow grad school buddies. Well, the most recent post is much easier to read. So here is a link to his view on life. He is a good writer and quite funny. I hope he lets that side of him come through.
Oh in case anyone forgot, next week at this time we will be in New Orleans.
Jenn, you will get a kick out of this latest hubbyism. J and I were eating pizza tonight. Yet again hubby was talking about where to eat on next Friday. He asks me “where would be a good place to get pizza in New Orleans?” Again, I give him the are you kidding me look again. He is something else.

Can I just tell you how excited I am getting and I still am two weeks out from our trip. One on my fav shows, Throwdown w/ Bobby Flay, was doing a gumbo throwdown. Hubby and I were drooling. Again this will a revolve around food. As the intro to the show they were showing all the different types of food. YUM! Those who know hubby know he is ALWAYS talking about food or what his next meal will be. (Can take a boy out of culinary school but you can’t take the culinary school out of the boy – do I have all of you jealous now? he is an amazing cook and I don’t cook – great combo) I think we will be talking about food for the next two weeks. He is trying to get me to pin down where we are having every meal. He is so weird though. He was wanting us to discuss where were going to have lunch on Fri – the drive in? So, he asks if we could stop in Baton Rouge for lunch. That in and of itself is not a bad thing but he wanted to go to Brewbachers (a sandwich shop). Jenn, can you believe it? I looked at him and asked him if he was nuts. I told him I could hold out and wait the 1 extra hour to have a much better meal. I know I am not making much sense to a lot of people. So let me explain, it would be like wanting a steak and settling for Outback when Ruth’s Chris was just 45 min further.
As far as a home study update, I emailed the social worker for a status. She emailed back that she should be done in the next few days. I am hoping she will be bringing it to CC next week. If we could get everything signed sealed and delivered (so to speak) by the end of the month, I would be a happy camper.

Really not much to report in our world right now. The big excitement is that I booked the hotel for our anniversary trip to New Orleans. It is a small local hotel on one of the prettiest streets in NOLA. Hubby’s favorite part is that they have “afternoon” Sherry. We were married in a New Orleans suburb 13 yrs ago on Aug 3rd. We moved to TX 3 weeks before Katrina and have not been back since. I plan on doing a bit of driving around to see how things have been rebuilt 3 yrs later. I am sure it will be sad even today. Of course all of our planning is revolving around where we will eat all weekend.
I am having to reign in my husband b/c the places he is wanting to go you would think he found the money tree out back. Our must do list consists of a good snowball (have to find one b/c Droppy’s no longer exists and I am sure Hansen’s in not around anymore), Mother’s, The Gumbo Shoppe, Cafe du Monde, Zia’s (that will actually be a stop on the way out in Baton Rouge – just opened one there). People familar w/ NOLA are collectively licking their lips.
How boring is my life that I am writing about our menu three weeks from now.
I also have jury duty on Thursday. We only get paid $6/day and parking is $5/day. Is that not the most ridiculous thing that I have to pay for parking. I also have to be there at 8am. Translation I will have to leave my house at about 6am to get there by 8. Traffic from my part of town is just that bad.

Sadly they must not be able to spell in Fredericksbug
This was our mantra this weekend. We took a weekend getaway minus the kiddo to meet some friends in Fredericksburg. We had such a great time. It is a little German town in the Texas hill country. As we traveled 290 through Austin, we decided it is a very good thing that we did not travel west of Houston prior to moving to Texas b/c we would have kept driving and ended up in Austin. I could not believe just 45 min west of Htown that it looks like an entirely different state.
Hubby says he has found the “coolest” place in Texas. Luckenbaugh, TX. Apparently if one was a country and music fan (which I am not), this would be a big deal. Even not being a fan, I had a great time listening to the live music and plan on going back.

Nothing new on the adoption front. Still waiting on the social worker to let me know about the home study update. LM today and waiting on a return call.
J is doing great. He is maturing daily. His language keeps drastically improving. The spontaneous speech is so nice to hear. As I say this, he is having a huge melt down in his room b/c he is trying to put on shoes that he out grew months ago.
(I have been meaning to put them in the attic. I guess I should do that sooner than later.) The post -surgery dr appt went well, once we saw the doctor. We had to wait about 4 hours. Not an exaggeration. The dr said that it could take up to a month to see the final effects of the surgery. Answering why the eyes are not totally aligned yet.
