Those of you not in the VN adoption community, Sept 1 is the closing or ending of the MOU (agreement bet US and VN for international adoption). I posted my last post over on my VN blog. I look at the the different things I had already bought for our little girl from VN that reflected VN culture, and it really makes me sad. One thing I plan to keep/use is a Christmas ornament. I found a VN angel ornament at 10,000 Villages. It will represent this adoption and our loss. Chandra said over on her blog a lot of what I have been thinking. We will still complete an adoption but it will not be a daughter from VN that I have prayed for, thought about and loved for the past 1.5 years. I expect our dossier to be returned to us and officially putting an end to our VN adoption.
I am also watching the news about Gustav. It seems that New Orleans is missing the brunt of the hurricane. Eerily, that is also what everyone thought about Katrina for a few hours. They did say that a levee in the 9th ward is being topped. Some but not a lot of flooding. I hope and pray that the flooding is minimal. The next few hours will be telling. I am also keeping my friends in Baton Rouge in my prayer. They are going to get a pretty hard hit in the next few hours. Thankfully, we don’t even think we will be getting much rain.
